The three kinds in one minute
Everything lives under Admin → Appointments → Addons:
- Add-on item (
/admin/appointments/addons/items) — a priced extra with an optional Duration in minutes. Linking Mode Direct ticks it straight onto services through its Classes pill; Via group offers it only through its group. Scope Per Booking charges once, Per Person per attendee. Use it for anything that only changes price or length. - Add-on group (
/admin/appointments/addons/groups) — a named set of Via group items with a Selection Mode: Single (Required) must pick exactly one, Single (Optional) one or None, Multiple any combination. Use it when the customer chooses between options. - Add-on service (
/admin/appointments/addons/addon-classes) — a real second appointment service linked to a main service, scheduled Sequential (after it, optionally with buffer times) or Parallel (same time, optionally the same instructor). Use it when the extra needs its own time on an instructor or room.
Add-on items
Take a 60-minute Treatment appointment service and create two Direct items under Appointments → Addons → Items.
| Item | Price | Duration | Scope | Linking | Services |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Extended time | 300 | 15 min | Per Booking | Direct | Treatment |
| Take-home product | 350 | 0 | Per Person | Direct | Treatment |
Extended time grows the hold to 75 minutes and is charged once; Take-home product is one per attendee and adds nothing to the time.
An add-on group
When the customer must choose one of several options, use a group.
| Group name | Preference |
|---|---|
| Members | Option A, Option B, Option C — each Price 0, Duration 0, Linking Mode Via group |
| Selection Mode | Single (Optional) — customers who do not mind pick None |
| Scope | Per Booking |
| Services | Treatment |
Use Single (Required) instead when the booking cannot go ahead without a choice.
An add-on service
A Follow-up check is a 15-minute appointment service with its own price and staff, so it is an add-on service rather than an item — set it up under Addons → Classes.
| Main Class | Treatment |
|---|---|
| Addon Class | Follow-up check (15 min) |
| Scheduling | Sequential — the same staff member does it straight after; Use Buffer Times off |
| Overrides | Leave blank |
| When offered | Only when the staff member is free for the full 75 minutes |
Choose Parallel when a second person does it during the main service.
What the customer sees
A customer books a Treatment for 2 attendees; after picking the time, the summary shows the add-ons below.
| They see | They tick / choose | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Extended time | Tick box | 300 once (Per Booking); hold 60 → 75 min |
| Take-home product | Tick box | 2 × 350 (Per Person) |
| Preference | Option A, B, C or None | Single (Optional) — they can confirm without choosing |
| Follow-up check | As you configured it | — |
Because the hold grows to 75 minutes, a time that would overlap the next booking disappears.
Changing add-ons later
Most common edits:
- Add Option D — create the item as Via group, then add it to the Preference group under Addons.
- Raise Extended time to 350 — edit the item on the Items tab.
- Archive a seasonal item — it leaves the pickers and new bookings; past bookings keep it.
- Offer Extended time on another service — tick the class in the item's Classes pill.
Ask the assistant
When you ask the admin AI assistant about add-ons, it starts from the example that matches the business type you chose during onboarding — so you can simply ask it to walk you through your own case. It reads your current add-on catalogue first and shows each item, group or add-on service change for approval before anything is saved.
