Class Size and Booking Quantity
Class Size is the capacity of one scheduled class or one appointment with one instructor. Booking quantity is the fixed number of places one customer booking reserves. The canonical data field is class_booking_quantity.
Leave Booking quantity empty when customers should choose their own number of places. Set it when the service is sold as one fixed package. A configured value of 1 is still fixed: it hides the quantity choice and reserves exactly one place.
Examples:
- Class Size 4, Booking quantity empty: the customer may choose a quantity up to the available capacity when multiple reservations are allowed.
- Class Size 4, Booking quantity 2: every booking takes two places on one schedule.
- Class Size 4, Booking quantity 4: one booking reserves the whole court or room.
Choose Flexible or Fixed Quantity
Flexible quantity: go to Admin → Settings → Reservation, set One Reservation Per Class to No, and leave Booking quantity empty. The customer chooses the number of places, limited by current availability and other class/pass rules.
Fixed quantity: where the development feature is enabled, go to Admin → Appointments → Classes, open the service, stay on Appointment - Settings, and set Booking quantity. The customer cannot reduce or increase that package quantity.
Booking quantity is currently exposed only in the development-only appointment settings control. Do not look for a second attendee-size setting: Booking quantity is the single fixed-package setting.
How Customers Book Multiple Spots
With flexible quantity, the booking window shows a quantity control. With fixed Booking quantity, that control is hidden and the booking summary shows the package quantity instead. The booking proceeds only when the complete group fits; the customer cannot reserve a partial package.
The class price is charged once for a fixed package, not once per place. Per-person add-ons and pass visits still apply to every place. One selected pass must have enough visits for the complete booking, and the selected account holder or dependent applies to every place in the fixed package.
Important Notes
Appointment capacity needs one extra distinction:
- Class Size 4, Booking quantity 2: one appointment schedule and one instructor take two attendees.
- Class Size 1, Booking quantity 2: New Appointments creates two simultaneous schedules and needs two available instructors.
- Class Size 2, Booking quantity 5: New Appointments splits the package into 2 + 2 + 1, so three simultaneous schedules and instructors must be available.
The older appointment booking screen always books one place and does not expand fixed packages. Fixed booking quantity is supported by the New Appointments flow. Calendar classes do not create extra schedules: the selected class occurrence itself must have enough free seats for the complete quantity.
- Each place creates a separate attendance record.
- Linked package attendances are cancelled together.
- Required equipment must fit the complete quantity before the booking can continue.
