Equipment for an Acupuncture Clinic

Treatment beds per patient and a cupping set as an add-on — a clinic is appointments only, so equipment is always per booking.

Treatment Beds

Treatment Bed: five units, capacity 1, Exclusive, Required, Hidden, assigned to the treatment rooms via Class Room. Link it to every consultation and treatment service.

Consultations and Follow-ups (Appointments)

Each booking takes one bed for its duration. Two practitioners and five beds means five patients at once regardless of who treats them; a sixth booking at that time is refused as fully booked.

For an appointment service every booking is its own session: an exclusive unit is taken whole by the booking that reserves it, and a shared unit is filled by other bookings at the same time up to its capacity.

Why There Is No Group-Class Rule Here

A clinic has no calendar classes, so beds are never reserved for a session in advance — they are taken only when a patient books. If you later add a group session such as a stress-and-sleep workshop, its required beds would be reserved when it is scheduled, exactly as in the other examples.

Cupping and Heat Lamps

Cupping Set and Heat Lamp are Optional items with a few units each. A practitioner adds them to the booking as needed; they never limit who can book.

Standalone Hire

Standalone hire does not apply to a clinic — a treatment bed is never used without a practitioner, so leave Available for standalone hire off.

Checking Allocations

Open Equipment → Allocations — the first tab — to see who holds each bed. The columns are Equipment, Unit, Customer, Class, Start time, End time and Capacity used; a Session badge marks a unit held for a whole class session. Filter by Class (Initial Consultation, Follow-up), Equipment (Treatment Bed), Customer or Date range, or search by equipment, unit or class name or class schedule ID. Use load more or load all for long lists. You can also ask the assistant to list allocations for a session, class, customer, item, unit or date.

Changing Items and Groups Later

The edits this business makes most often:

  • Add a sixth bed — open the item, choose the Units pill and select Add Unit, or enter a new Total units and select Go.
  • Take a bed out for a deep clean — in the Units pill set its status to Maintenance with a start date (the end date is optional). It leaves class capacity and standalone hire until it is Active again.
  • Change the Cupping Set price — on the item's edit page; the hire price is Price per block under Advanced → Standalone hire.

Every one of these can also be done by asking the assistant.
