When you ask the admin AI assistant to explain equipment, it starts from the example that matches the business type you chose during onboarding — so you can simply ask it to walk you through your own case.
The Four Rules Every Example Uses
- Capacity is how many people one unit serves at once; a unit is one physical thing (Court 1, Reformer 3).
- Exclusive means nobody outside the booking or session fills the unit — a table for four reserved by two keeps its empty seats. Shared means other bookings at the same time fill it up to capacity.
- A group class session on the calendar reserves one unit of each required, exclusive item when it is scheduled. Attendees are placed on it in turn without choosing; when it is full the next attendee moves to the next free unit (choosing it if the group is Customer Choice); when none is free the session reads as full. The reservation stays even if everyone cancels, and an admin can move it to another free unit with Change unit in Equipment → Allocations or on the session's Equipment tab.
- An appointment service treats every booking as its own session: exclusive units are taken whole by the booking, shared units fill across bookings, and Customer Choice groups let the customer pick. Optional equipment is offered as an extra and never blocks a booking.
Where an example also uses Standalone hire, the item is hired on its own from the Hire page in blocks, paid by the price per block, and the hire shows in Allocations like any appointment booking.
