How to skip a single occurrence of a recurring class

When you need to cancel just one instance of a recurring class — a holiday, an instructor illness, a one-off conflict — you don't touch the recurring template. You cancel only that day's class from the calendar. The rest of the series continues as scheduled, customers booked into the cancelled day are notified and refunded, and you can restore the class later if plans change.

Cancel just one day from the calendar

  1. Open Admin → Schedule Calendar.
  2. Navigate to the date you want to cancel and tap the specific class instance (not the recurring template).
  3. In the popover menu, tap Cancel (ban icon).
  4. Confirm the dialog: "All attendees will be removed and class will be cancelled."

The single occurrence is cancelled. The recurring template and every other occurrence in the series stay exactly as they were.

Customers booked into that day

Every customer attending the cancelled instance receives a customer_class_cancellation email plus an in-app notification (if the notifications are enabled in your settings). Their reservation is removed from their upcoming bookings, and the points or visit count consumed by that booking are returned to the pass they used. Waiting-list entries for the cancelled class are cleared at the same time.

Your admins and instructors also receive an admin_class_cancelled in-app notification so the change is visible to everyone running the studio.

Restoring a cancelled instance

Single-instance cancellation is reversible. Tap the cancelled class again on the calendar — the popover now offers a Restore button (share icon) instead of Cancel. Confirm to bring the class back; the class_schedule_cancelled flag clears and the class is active again.

One thing to note: restoring does not automatically rebook the customers who were on the cancelled day or send a "we are back on!" notification. If you want previously-booked customers to attend, you (or they) need to re-create the booking manually.
